fifty3 was a critical publication about art and visual culture published quarterly by Latitude 53 Contemporary Visual Culture in Edmonton, Alberta until 2008. This 36-page magazine encompasses issues relevant to artists, cultural producers and those interested in visual culture across Canada. Every issue features a critical theme, multiple original articles, and a unique artist project commissioned for the magazine. We approach the creation of fifty3 as a collector’s item, rather than a disposable magazine.
Featuring both Canadian and international writers, fifty3 is committed to providing critical discourse on contemporary art and visual culture for northern Alberta and the prairie region.
fifty3 can be found at Latitude 53 and is distributed at hand-picked locations including The Front Page on Jasper Ave and Greenwoods' Bookshoppe in Edmonton; Neutral Ground in Regina; and Red River Books in Winnpeg.
Each issue is $4.00 and back issues are available for $3.00.
