Support contemporary art

Designed by Salem Zurch

Salem Zurch is a multimedia storyteller and photographer based in amiskwacîwâskahikan. Salem’s vision of the prairies paints it as the backdrop to the stories of flourishing Black creatives, and their work as an experimental filmmaker and photographer aims to elevate narratives that center the stories, aesthetics, and values of prairie queers.

About the design:
Cowboys use their belt buckles to tell a story about themselves, often showcasing their greatest achievements. Whether earned as trophies or crafted with a particular narrative in mind, a cowboy’s belt buckle offers a glimpse into their life. This particular buckle is a tribute to Black prairie queers and their allies, symbolizing duality, resilience, and pride in being Black on the prairies.
