For every $50 donated during Schmoozy, you will be entered into a draw to guest program our new washrooms in 2025. Showcase your own work (or a friends, a kids, your pets etc) in collaboration with Latitude 53.
About Schmoozy 2024
Schmoozy is Latitude 53’s signature annual fundraising event.
Schmoozy celebrates artists and the community that supports them. Running annually since 1998, Schmoozy has evolved from a silent art auction to an exhibition with works for sale by local artists. Works will be on sale both online and in-person throughout the three weeks, providing several Alberta artists, both emerging and established, with opportunities to grow their audience, get paid for their work, and connect with other artists and art lovers alike within the community.
As always, 50% of the proceeds of the works sold in the sale, will go back to the participating artists. This year’s fundraiser will support essential facility renovations, allowing us to better serve artists.
We are excited to welcome the community into our first Schmoozy in our new home in the historic McLeod building. After nearly 2 years of facilities struggles, Latitude 53 is fundraising to support essential renovations to remain in this beautiful space for a longer term.
Facilities expenses include:
The construction of two additional washrooms to raise our venue capacity, allowing for more community events, and more flexibility in the types of events we can host.
Additional portable walls to allow for more flexibility in hanging artwork
Updates to our office area to accommodate storage and meeting spaces, and an expanded shop
These facilities upgrades will greatly increase our capacity to support artists, including creating more exhibition opportunities.
The total of these costs is estimated at $26,000, and the functionality it will bring to our little space will be priceless! These renovations will allow us to better support artists, host events, and overall better serve our community.
Schmoozy will be open to the public in-person from November 22-30th. Schmoozy.ca will be open for shopping through December 14 online.
