Presented in partnership with Glass Bookshop

Join us and Glass Bookshop for the launch of Zachary Ayotte’s new book, I Wish U Were Here on Saturday, February 8 at 2pm. Ayotte will be in conversation with April Dean on the afternoon of the book launch.

I Wish U Were Here combines photography with writing as Ayotte treads through the spectrality of perception and its subtle, yet instrumental impact on our engagement with other people. Ayotte ruminates on the concept of intimate distance and reflects on the implications for both affection and violence that arise when there is the potential for contact. Covering snippets from Ayotte’s past experiences, the book questions how fleeting perceptions of our environment can influence our decision-making. Moreover, I Wish U Were Here begs the question: if the distance between two points is space that the brain can fill, how does our understanding of the past influence what it will be filled with?

Zachary Ayotte is a Canadian artist, photographer and writer. He was born in Yellowknife, NT and raised in Edmonton, AB.
