As Latitude 53 approaches 51, we’re looking back on last year’s series with a pair of publications documenting the workshop and sharing more from the lead artists. Join us for a day of workshops, and pick up your copies of the booklets!
2 pm: Tie Dye Workshop & Clothing Swap (FREE Drop in)
With Merlin Uwalaka & Breanna Barrington
Bring a shirt to tie-dye with the artists, and rustle up some under-loved finds from your wardrobe to swap and trade.
Pockets of Eden is a series intended to hold the energetic space to show people what it feels like and could look like to embody material intelligence, and to live life knowing about the earth, communicating with the earth, honouring the earth as a collaborator, and making everyday choices with this awareness.
6 pm: Ghosts of the Gallery (FREE - Registration needed)
With Luke Johnson & Snack Witch Joni Cheung
Peer back into the history of Latitude 53 with these artists. Workshop participants are encouraged to share their own histories in the artist-run community and to make drawings based on the stories of others.
How do we sustain our networks of relations? How do we think beyond linear conceptions of growth and loss? Can we collectively find meaningful alternative measures of value, connection, and purpose? Do answers lie with ghosts?
7 pm: Publication launch reception
Members and guests are invited to join us to toast the Next 50 Years publication, and to continue drawing through the Ghosts of the Gallery prompts.
