Lisa Bourque (b.2000) is an emerging artist born in Fort McMurray and living in Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton, Alberta). Her paintings are the act of rebuilding and imagining celestial lived spaces to house cherished figures and objects. Drawing ideas from personal memory, the mundane, and prayer items, Lisa creates environments where her subjects exist in a realm in-between; alone and to be sheltered.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta. Her works have recently been shown in I don’t know how, but I’m taller at FAB gallery (2023), the CARFAC artWORK/netWORK exhibition in Edmonton (2022), as well as at the New York Academy of Art summer residency exhibition in New York City (2022). She co-curated the show Growing Pains at dc3 art projects (2023) alongside Amanda Komarniski and Ilsa Ahmad.
