The Clearest Water is Found in the Shallowest Wells is a new and experimental work in Linfield’s practice of conflating images with objects while interrogating concepts of surface. Linfield does this in much of his work while using simple and familiar materials to create provisional sculptures of digital media - a type of media not often associated with having a materiality of its own.
Alex Linfield is an Alberta born and based artist with a BFA from the University of Alberta and an MFA from NSCAD University. Their MFA thesis, exhibited earlier this year, focused on digital media / images and their relationship to changing attitudes towards time, ephemerality, and materiality. Linfield’s work aims to expand ways of thinking about images and their distributive platforms.
